Visit some of Italy’s most picture postcard sites with this full day tour of Pompeii and Sorrento from Rome. After one hour by high speed train you will arrive in Naples, where a short coach transfer takes you to the world famous Unesco world heritage archeological site: Pompeii. In a two hour tour, learn all about this fascinating ancient Roman city full of artefacts, preserved for centuries and buried under tonnes of ash due to an eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. There is also the unique opportunity of visiting the recently opened Domus (homes of the city´s most influential people). We then drive down the famed Sorrento coastal road overlooking the sparkling blue waters of the bay of Naples, and with a selection of photo stops you can take picture postcard souvenirs. On the way, your guide will entertain you with tales about the area and its significance during the Roman Empire as the preferred location for Emperors’ holidays. Beat the afternoon slump with a limoncello tasting in Sorrento; a lemon liqueur produced in the region and the second most popular liqueur in Italy. Later, we will head back to Rome by train where you will have plenty of time to enjoy the final hours in the capital city.
