SAN JUAN CHAMULA-ZINACANTAN desde San Cristobal

A unique experience to join the natives of the communities of San Juan Chamula and Zinacatan and learn about some of their traditions. Depart for the Indigenous Communities of the Tzotzil ethnic group. The first visit will take you to the town of Chamula for a learning experience with an aim to understanding the fusion of contemporary traditions and ancient Mayan characteristics that give this place its identity. You will have spare time for sightseeing around the Main Square and shopping in the local market. Then, you will continue towards Zinacantan where you will visit a colonial church. Next, the operator will drive you at the home of a family cooperative who will welcome you with aregional drink and have the opportunity to watch women work the waist loom which dates from Pre-Columbian times. Having seen some of the samples of what they produce, you will be invited into their kitchen where you may be fortunate enough to be offered a tasting of their traditional hand-made tortillas.
