Our first stop is in Amarante. This city is very important in religion after the arrival of S. Gonçalo (1187-1259) - one of the most renowned saints in Christian history, settled here after his pilgrimage through Rome and Jerusalem, making this city an important stop religious in Portugal. You can visit the convent and the church, the beautiful bridge and the historic centre.
The trip continues towards Galafura, a small village near Peso da Régua. On the way enjoy a brief stop to see the Miradouro de São Leonardo de Galafura near Covelinhas, parish of Galafura. From its 640 metre high peak, boasts privileged views over the river Douro and the surrounding landscapes. This is sure to be one of the highlights of your day! Be sure to bring your camera and do not miss anything! You will also find here a geodesic landmark, as this is the highest place in the region.
Afterwards, it's time to savour a delicious lunch (only if you have chosen the option). If not, enjoy free time on your own.
The tour continues to Pinhão, one of the most beautiful villages in the region. Stop for a one-hour relaxing cruise (optional, not included). The views over the vineyards offered are just marvelous!
End your day with an unforgettable visit to a local wine cellar, where you will also have the opportunity to taste wines and learn a lot about how precious Port Wine is grown. During the summer months this tour includes a wine tasting experience at Quinta do Portal.
