An unforgettable catamaran cruise that departs from the ‘end of the world’ and culminates with the remarkable sight of a colony of adorable penguins. Setting off from the pier in Ushuaia, our vessel heads out into Lapataia Bay and sets a south-easterly course for the Beagle Channel with its numerous islands, landscapes, birds and marine animals. Here our route takes us past the Isla de los Pajaros (‘Bird Island’), which is home to a large colony of imperial cormorants and many other species and provides a perfect opportunity for any budding wildlife photographers on board. Next we pass the Isla de los Lobos (‘Island of Wolves’), which might more accurately be known as the island of lions, because it provides an ideal habitat for two species of sea lions native to the area. After sailing through the Les Eclaireurs Archipelago and seeing the famous lighthouse of the same name, the cruise continues past Mackinlay to Hammer Island. This is the furthest point of the cruise and its culmination. The island is populated by a large colony of elegant and delightful Megellanic penguins, a species only found in the coastal waters around Argentina and Chile and officially classified as threatened due mainly to the risks of oil spills.
